Are you a social dancer or representative of a social dance group?
If so, we invite you to join us.
This group was initially established to pursue issues relating to dance at the National Folk Festival. It has now expanded to include all people with an interest in folk dance in Australia, including dance musicians. It aims to provide a useful and enjoyable forum for dancers and dance musicians by promoting and preserving our dance traditions.
Traditional European dance in Australia encompasses primarily colonial, English, Irish, and Scottish backgrounds, however, many other forms have been present throughout colonial times and continue to play an important role in our society. We welcome all and encourage anyone who wishes to connect to our community to contact us.
We acknowledge the traditional owners of the land and honour the significance of dance in their culture.
